Invitation to International Mother Language Day 2012

Tamil Foundation Malaysia and joint organisers LLG, KLSCAH, University Malaya - Faculty of Language & Linguistics would like to invite you to the "International Mother Tongue Day 2012" on 21 February 2012 at University Malaya.
International Mother Tongue Day was proclaimed by UNESCO in November 1999.
The International Day has been observed every year since February 2000 to promote linguistic and cultural diversity and multilinguarism.
Languages are the most powerful instruments of preserving and developing our tangible and intangible heritage.
All moves to promote the dissemination of Mother tongues will serve not only to encourage linguistic diversity and multilingual education but also to develop fuller awareness of linguistic and cultural traditions throughout the world and to inspire solidarity based on understanding, tolerance and dialogue.
We lose our Mother tongue, we lose our Identity.
Those who are concerned and passionate with your Mother Tongue, please attend the event.
We have a Special Guest Speaker, Mr Raja Ramalingam from United States, who is the son of the great Indian poet Mr Ramalingam.
We also have our key speakers, Mr S. Pasupathi - President of Tamil Foundation, Dato Dr Toh Kin Woon from LLG, En Zaid Kamaruddin from GBM.
Mother tongues are rich in culture.... Therefore, we have a colourful display of Multiracial cultural performances.
The students from Faculty of Language & Linguistics will also be performing.
